Visit the Hunter Valley and join in the fun!

The date and other details for the
2011 Wollombi Valley Scarecrow Festival have
not yet been finalised.
Scarecrows line the main road between Murrays Run and Millfield,
through the Wollombi village. This year the Festival runs from
Saturday 20th March to Saturday 17th April 2010.
This annual Festival commenced in 2007, and has now become a major event on the local calendar. The scarecrows are all on display over Easter and remain for a month, so why not come along and visit the Wollombi Valley and vote for your favourite scarecrow - fun for both visitors and locals of all ages!
The Wollombi Valley is a beautiful area covering three villages, Laguna, Wollombi and Millfield, situated along the convict built Great North Road, the original route from Sydney. Known for its vibrant art community, the Scarecrow Festival adds yet another dimension. The historic villages have great stories of the past, and are alive today with an ambience and country spirit that welcomes everyone!
As well as bringing the community together, the Scarecrow Festival is a fundraising event, with all funds raised through voting in the People’s Choice Award in 2010 being donated to the Hunter Mobile Preschool, which visits Wollombi every Wednesday and Thursday during the school term. This service was established to accommodate the needs of young pre-school children in outlying and rural areas in and around the Lower Hunter area.

Why not enjoy a weekend or midweek break, and stay in the Wollombi Valley.
