Participate in the Festival

Some tips:
- Scarecrow 1 - It can be as simple as stuffing a long sleeved shirt and trousers with hay or straw and then a hat on the top!
- Scarecrow 2 - Actually another version if you have no hay!! Use newspaper to fill out your scarecrow but……… Remember it might rain so ensure the ‘stuffing’ goes into plastic bags and then the plastic bags into the shirt etc., that way it cannot get wet and sodden and fall apart! Make a head by stuffing the plastic bag then covering with material, drawing a face and perhaps adding a wig or hat.
- Scarecrow 3 - Using light lattice wire you can mould shapes. You might still need to stuff as above to hold shape though it’s surprisingly strong. The wire is readily available from any hardware shop and is relatively inexpensive.
- Scarecrow 4 - Any ‘blow-up’ article can be re-invented.
- Scarecrow 5 - The swimming pool ‘noodles’ can be effectively remoulded with wire through them to get your shape.
To make them stand up!!! If there’s a fence, lamppost, or tree it can be a great help to making him/her ‘stand up’! Try the traditional cross-sticks (looks like the letter ‘t’) and again tie it against a post or hammer your ‘t’ into the ground.
Don’t Forget – scarecrows can stand, sit, fly, or recline!
Start Saving - your old clothes, wheel barrow, straw hat or that great piece from the Council collection!
Above all – have fun!! Some scarecrow ideas:
